Aortic stenosis AS

  • Facts:
    If younger person, suspect bicuspid aortic valve
    If older patient, think age-related sclerocalcific changes
  • History / PE:
    Angina
    CHF symptoms
    Exertional dyspnea
  • Diagnosis:
    Harsh systolic ejection murmur (aortic area, radiates to carotids)
    Slow pulse upstroke
    S3, S4
    Ejection click
  • Associated With:
    LVH
    Cardiomegaly
    Bleeding from GI angiodysplasia
