  Stroke involving the ventral postero-lateral (VPL) nucleus of the thalamus, which transmits information to the contralateral side of the body
• History / PE:
  Contralateral hemianesthesia (hemi-sensory loss)
  Transient hemiparesis
  Athetosis
  Ballistic movements
