Hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) Lynch syndrome
Facts:
Divided into two subgroups based on clinical grounds,
Hereditary site specific colon cancer (Lynch syndrome I)
Cancer family syndrome (Lynch syndrome II)
Diagnosis:
1) At least three relatives with colorectal cancer, one of whom must be a first-degree relative of the other two
2) Involvement of two or more generations
3) At least one case diagnosed before age 50
4) Familial adenomatosus polyposis has been excluded
Associated With:
1) Endometrial cancer (Lynch syndrome II)
2) Turcot's syndrome (HNPCC and gliomas)
