  • Facts:
    Predominantly B cell malignancy of unclear etiology
    Bimodal age distribution, MC in men
  • History / PE:
    Cervical, mediastinal lymphadenopathy
    Pel-Ebstein fevers (1-2 wks high fever, then 1-2wks afebrile)
    Mediastinal mass
    Systemic B symptoms
    Pruritis
    Heaptosplenomegaly
  • Diagnosis:
    Excisional lymph node biopsy
    Reed-Sternberg cells ("Owl-eyes")
    Hypercalcemia (from calcitriol)
  • Treatment:
    1) Radiation
    2) Adriamycin, bleomycin, vinblastine, decarbazine [ABVD]
    3) Mechlorethamine, oncovin (vincristine), procarbazine, and prednisone [MOPP]
  • Notes:
    Lymphadenopathy becomes more painful with ETOH consumption
