Neutropenic fever

• Facts:
  Medical emergency
• History / PE:
  Pt undergoing chemotherapy (neutropenic nadir 7-10 days postchemo)
• Diagnosis:
  Single temp > 38.3 C or
  Sustained temp > 38 C
• Treatment:
  Cefepime / ceftazidime (broad spectrum)
• Complications:
  With neutropenia, can see neutropenic enterocolitis
• Notes:
  Neutropenia is absolute neutrophil count (ANC) < 500 cells/mm3
