  • Facts:
    Characterized by a rosy hue with telangiectasia over the cheeks, nose, and chin
    Flushing can be aggravated by ETOH, diet, emotion
  • History / PE:
    Rhinophyma
    Papules, pustules
    Coexisting phlebaritis
    Flushing episodes are often intermittent, but can progress to permanent flushed skin
  • Treatment:
    Metronidazole
    Oral tetracycline
  • Differential Diagnosis:
    Carcinoid syndrome (diarrhea, flushing only last 20-30 secs)
    Systemic lupus erythematosus (no papules, pustules
