  • Facts:
    Immune-mediated inflammation of one eye (the sympathetic eye) after a penetrating injury to the other eye

    Due to antibody mediated, immune response to 'hidden ocular antigens' from the penetrating eye injury
  • History / PE:
    Floating spots
    Anterior uveitis / panuveitis
    Papillary edema
  • Treatment:
    Prompt enucleation of the injured eye
  • Complications:
    Blindness
  • Differential Diagnosis:
    Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome (same pathogenesis, sans injury)
