Fungal scalp infection
Mainly affects children
Might have inflamed, boggy granuloma of scalp (kerion)
Diagnosis
:
If hair fluoresces under Wood's lamp, then
Mircosporum spp.
If no fluorescence, then
Trichophyton spp.
Treatment
:
Oral antifungals (eg. terbinafine, fluconazole, itraconazole, griseofulvin)
