Fever of Unknown Origin FUO

Temperature of > 38.3C for at least 3 weeks that remains undiagnosed following three outpatient visits or three days of hospitalization

• History / PE:
  Fever, HA, myalgia, malaise
• Diagnosis:
  CT chest and abdomen
  Take detailed history
  CXR, CBC with differential, ESR, blood cultures
• Treatment:
  Stop unnecessary meds (including ABx if no response)
  FUO pts w/o other symptoms do not require empiric ABx
