Hypernatremia

Serum sodium > 145 mEq/L ; usually due to water loss than sodium gain
History/PE
Thirst, neuro symptoms
Diagnosis
Measure urine volume and osmolality
Treatment
Gradual correction
Pneumonic
Causes: Diuresis, Dehydration, Diabetes Insipidus , Docs (Iatrogenic), Diarrhea, Disease (eg. Kidney, Sickle Cell Disease ), alDosterone (Increased aldosterone suppresses ADH )
