Lactose intolerance

• Facts:
  Lactase is a brush border enzyme that hydrolyzes lactase
  Symptoms occur after ingestion of milk products
• History / PE:
  Osmotic diarrhea
  Abdominal cramps
  Bloating, flatulence
• Diagnosis:
  Positive hydrogen breath test
  Positive stool test for reducing substances
  Low stool pH
  Increased stool osmotic gap
• Differential Diagnosis:
  Irritable bowel syndrome
