Melanosis coli Pseudomelanosis coli

• Facts:
  Benign finding
  Disorder of pigmentation in the colon wall
• History / PE:
  Dark brown discoloration of the colon with lymph follicles shining through as pale patches (colonoscopy)
• Diagnosis:
  Brown pigment (lipofuscin) in macrophages (biopsy)
• Associated With:
  Chronic laxative (eg. bisacodyl) abusers
• Differential Diagnosis:
  Peutz-Jeghers syndrome
