  • Facts:
    Premature separation of placenta from site of implantation
    MC risk factor is HTN
    MCC of antepartum hemmorrhage
  • History / PE:
    Painful 3rd trimester bleeding (dark red)
    Normal U/S
  • Differential Diagnosis:
    Uterine rupture (hypovolemia, shock, intense pain)
    Placental previa (painless bleeding)
    Vasa previa
  • Risk Factors:
    Tobacco use
    Cocaine
    Maternal HTN
    Trauma
    Short umbilical cord
    Folate deficiency
