Transient Synovitis

  • History / PE:
    Typically male children 3-10 yo
    Usually follows mild trauma/infection
    Hip pain, decreased ROM
    Low grade fever
  • Treatment:
    Restricted weight bearing
    NSAIDs (ibuprofen)
  • Differential Diagnosis:
    Septic arthritis
    Slipped capped femoral epiphysis
    Legg–Calvé–Perthes syndrome
