ACE inhibitors Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitors

• Facts:
  Captopril
  Enalapril (vasotec)
  Lisinopril (novatec)
• Indications:
  Post MI (limit ventricular remodeling)
  HTN
  CHF
• Side Effects:
  1) Hyperkalemia
  
  2) Cough (accumulation of bradykinin, substance P, thromboxanes, prostaglandins)
  
  3) Renal impairment ( acquired angioedema , RTA type IV )
• Notes:
  Need to check creatinine clearance beforehand
  Proven to improve mortality in CHF patients
