Severe Blepharitis Blepharitis
  • Facts:
    Infection/inflammation of the lid margin of the eye
    Two types, Staphylococcal and seborrheic
  • History / PE:
    Irritation / burning / itching of eye
    Red rimmed eye
  • Diagnosis:
    Greasy scales seen on lashes and lid margin (seborrheic)
    Tiny ulcerated dry scales along lid margin (Staph)
  • Treatment:
    Warm compress, lid hygiene
    Topical Abx (Staph)
  • Complications:
    Recurrent conjunctivitis
    Staph epithelial Keratitis (leads to blindness if untreated)
  • Associated With:
    Ocular rosacea
