Carpal tunnel syndrome CTS

• Facts:
  Entrapment of the median nerve
  MC mononeuropathy of the upper extremity
• History / PE:
  Pain/aching over thenar area of hand (atrophy if longstanding)
  Symptoms worse at night
  
• Diagnosis:
  Phalen's and Tinel's sign
  Confirm with EMG testing
• Treatment:
  1) NSAIDs
  2) Surgical release
  3) Wrist splinting (pregnant women)
• Associated With:
  Hypothyroidism
  Pregnancy
  Acromegaly
  Amyloidosis
