  • Facts:
    Parvovirus B19
  • History / PE:
    PRODROME
    None, fever is often absent or low grade

    RASH
    "Slapped cheek"
    Worsens with fever and sun exposure
  • Complications:
    Arthritis
    Hemolytic anemia
    Aplastic crisis (eg. sickle cell, hereditary spherocytosis )
    Congential infection (fetal hydrops)
  • Notes:
    "Slapped cheeks" are pathognomonic
    MCC of viral arthritis (look anti-B19 IgM)
