  • Facts:
    Condition of painful, subcutaneous pretibial nodules
    Common in women ages 15-40
    Benign condition, tends to heal on its own
    Symptom of more serious disease processes
  • History / PE:
    Fever
    Joint pain
  • Diagnosis:
    CXR (rule out sarcoid)
  • Treatment:
    Remove triggering agent
    Treat underlying disease
    NSAIDs (but may lead to Erythema Multiforme )
  • Notes:
    May have a false positive VDRL
  • Associated With:
    Recent streptococcal infection
    Sarcoidosis
    TB
    Histoplasmosis
    Ulcerative colitis
    Drug reactions
    Behçet's Syndrome
