RNA picornavirus with an average incubation period of 30 days
Transmission occurs via
fecal-ora
l route
Self-imiting disease, does not progress to chronic
hepatitis
,
cirrhosis
, or HCC
History / PE
:
Acute onset
Malaise, fatigue, anorexia, nausea
Hepatomegaly
Diagnosis
:
AST/ALT spike early on, followed by increases in bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase
Treatment
:
Supportive
Full recovery expected within 3-6 weeks
