IgA nephropathy Berger's disease

• Facts:
  Immune complex glomerulonephritis ( MC nephritic syndrome )
  Commonly seen in young males
• History / PE:
  Episodic gross hematuria OR
  Persistent microscopic hematuria
• Diagnosis:
  Normal C3
  Mesangial widening and recurrent hematuria/proteinuria
• Treatment:
  Glucocorticoids
  ACEIs (in patients with proteinuria)
• Complications:
  ESRD (20% of cases)

• Associated With:
  Upper respiratory or GI infections
  Henoch-Schonlein purpura
• Differential Diagnosis:
  Postinfectious glomerulonephritis (low serum C3)
