  • Treatment:
    Azithromycin ( chlamydia ) and ceftriaxone ( gonorrhea )
  • Complications:
    Tubo-ovarian abscess
    Infertility
    Chronic pelvic pain
  • Notes:
    Screen patients for HIV, syphilis , hepatitis B, cervical cancer (pap smear), and hepatits C (if history of IV drug use)
  • Associated With:
    Ectopic pregnancy
    Gonorrhea
    Chlamydia
