:
Mean pulmonary pressure of > 25mmHG (normal = 15mmHg)
Primary
Most often in young or middle-aged women
Secondary
Left sided heart failure
Mitral valve disease
Congenital heart dx with L to R shunt
Hypoxic vasoconstriction 2/2 chronic lung dx (eg.
COPD
)
History / PE
:
Exertional brethlessness
Dyspnea, weakness, fatigue
Diagnosis
:
Enlargement of central pulmonary arteries (CXR)
Right ventricular hypertrophy
Complications
:
If untreated, leads to
cor pulmonale
