    Autoimmune condition that most commonly affects women in their 5th or 6th decade of life
  • History / PE:
    Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eyes)
    Xerostomia (dry mouth)
    Difficulty swallowing
    Dental caries (decreased saliva)
  • Diagnosis:
    Lymphocytic infiltration of the salivary glands
    Antibodies to SSA(Ro) and/or SSA (La)
  • Associated With:
    Rheumatoid Arthritis
    Connective tissue disorders
    Hepatitis C
  • Differential Diagnosis:
    Scleroderma
    Mixed connective tissue disease
