  • Facts:
    Partial paralysis of the gastric muscles, leading to delayed gastric emptying
  • History / PE:
    Chronic nausea
    Erratic blood sugar levels
    Postprandial bloating
    Early satiety
    Abdominal bloating
  • Diagnosis:
    Nuclear medicine scintigraphy (post ingestion of radio-labeled meal)
  • Treatment:
    Metoclopramide ( diabetic neuropathy )
    Erythromycin, bethanechol
  • Associated With:
    Poorly controlled diabetes mellitus
    Parkinson's disease
    Fibromyalgia
    Gastroesophageal reflux disease
  • Differential Diagnosis:
    GERD
    Peptic ulcer disease
