Testicular cancer
  • Facts:
    MC malignancy in males 15-34
    95% derive from germ cells, virtually all are malignant
  • History / PE:
    Painless enlargement of testes
  • Diagnosis:
    Testicular U/S
    Elevated Beta-hCG (choriocarcinoma and in 10% of seminomas)
    Elevated Alpha-fetoprotein (yolk Sac tumors, as well as in hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatoblastoma, and neuroblastoma )
  • Treatment:
    Radical orchiectomy
    Seminomas extremely radiosensitive, also respond to chemo
    Platinum based chemo for nonseminomatous germ cell tumors
  • Pneumonic:
    Seminomas = Sensitive to radiation
  • Risk Factors:
    Cryptorchidism
    Klinefelter syndrome
