Diagnosis

1.)
Fasting plasma glucose >126mg/dL on two occasions OR
2.)
Random plasma glucose > 200 mg/dL plus symptoms OR
3.)
Two-hour postprandial glucose > 200 mg/dL after a glucose tolerance test on 2 separate occasions
Treatment
:
Diet, weight loss, and exercise
Tight glucose control (80-100 mg/dL)
Hb A1C levels < 7
Oral Diabetic Agents
, Insulin, Incretins,
Statins
Complications
:
Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state
Diabetic nephropathy
Diabetic neuropathy
Overflow
incontinence
(detrusor weakness)
