Infection involving the fat and muscles within the orbit
History / PE
:
Swollen, painful eye
Fever
Decreased visual acuity
Protrusion of eyeball (proptosis)
Diagnosis
:
CT scan
Differential Diagnosis
:
Preseptal
cellulitis
(no decrease in visual acuity)
Anterior uveitis
(no eyelid involvement)
Cavernous sinus thrombosis
(bilateral symptoms)
Conjunctivitis (no pain with eye movements)
